The fourth session of the series of pre-conferences to accompany the economy or health in the Corona environment with the topic “The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on health insurance” with the speech of Mr. Taher Mohebati “former CEO of the Health Insurance Organization and Legal Assistance, Parliament and Provincial Affairs of the Ministry of Health and Medicine” and medical education” dated 08/14/2019 was held as a webinar.
The following matters were discussed in the said meeting:
The International Monetary Fund’s threshold for a major economic disaster is a loss of 0.5 percent of GDP. According to the predictions made for the Covid-19 pandemic, this pandemic will affect up to 70% of the world’s production, and the world’s gross production will even decrease by 75.1% in some possible scenarios. In general, pandemics, and especially the Covid-19 pandemic, directly and indirectly affect the production of countries. Factors such as the death and illness of the workforce, the closure of businesses and trades due to the fear of contracting the disease, the closure of schools and universities, etc. directly lead to a decrease in the production of countries. These factors will affect the service sectors of the countries more.
The stock market and company shares are also affected by these conditions. All of these lead to a decrease in government revenue and an increase in some expenses and costs for the country.
By adopting quick and appropriate policies and decisions, countries can reduce the effects of economic recession caused by pandemics through accurate and appropriate planning and the implementation of specific measures.
In this meeting, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on health insurance was discussed.
